Mustafa Yilmaz

My vision of hair transplantation is totally in line with this perspective: to be at the service of regained well-being through effective techniques that give natural results. The hair, in women of course, but in men, it is the force of life, it is the finery. Losing them is truly an injury, a trauma. It’s terrible!

Also, I enjoy listening to my patients and never judging them. I am then able to give them the best advice and allow them to regain their self-confidence.

I naturally surrounded myself with a caring, expert and extremely rigorous team in its field to be sure to offer men and women who suffer from baldness solutions that work, without ever ignoring safety and reliability.

The used techniques depend on Dr. Mustafa Yilmaz decision after doing the medical diagnosis, Choi Pen / DHI - Sapphire - Micro FUE are used normally in our operations.

Emine Karabash

I started dermatology almost 15 years ago now and thanks to my encounters with other dermatologists, I quickly turned to medical aesthetics.

More and more women and men want to feel good about their hair, and when this is the case, one gains confidence in oneself, in everyday life, in social life and in work.

I have also always remained "classic", in this movement that is now called the "Soft touch", namely to privilege discretion, elegance, and of course, naturalness. Not ostentatious! I prefer to repair what is damaged, rather than change or modify.

The used techniques depend on Dr Emine’s decision after doing the medical diagnosis, Choi Pen / DHI - Sapphire - Micro FUE are used normally in our operations.

She is the one who sees you in consultation and who makes the diagnosis. On D-Day, Ayse. starts the procedure with local anesthesia in your donor area. She is present throughout your intervention, ensuring its perfect completion, with the support of her team of experts.

    Principle of the DHI transplant

DHI transplantation is currently, in 2021, the best technique in the world for hair transplantation. This technique is an evolved form of the last method used: FUE, which is still widely practiced and which remains very present on the market.

For the DHI technique, the procedure consists of taking hair from the back of the skull (where there is plenty of it) and implanting it on the top of the head (where there is none). So far, we haven't reinvented the wheel because other grafting techniques still use this principle. The innovation here consists in implanting the grafts taking into account the orientation of the hair present, those which are close to the bald areas. The result is then very harmonious and natural.

The technique has also been improved overall since the hair follicles are removed no longer with a punch of 1 to 2 mm in diameter but with a very small micro-punch of 0.7 to 0.9 mm in diameter. This minimizes the scars left on the back of the skull, they become almost non-existent.

Finally, it is no longer necessary to shave your head in order to proceed with the intervention with the DHI method.

Like other transplants, insofar as the transplanted hair is insensitive to the hormone that causes alopecia: the transplanted hair will never fall out.

What do I think of it

Doing a transplant with the DHI technique means putting the odds on your side to have the most natural hair transplant result.

It is also the softest technique and which attacks your scalp the least thanks to micro punch of 0.7mm, or even 0.9mm at the most. We are very far from the techniques of FUT, IFA (super aggressive) and even from a classic FUE which still uses punches with too large diameters to remove the grafts from the scalp (between 1 and 2 mm anyway…).

My advice is obviously to do the DHI. This is what I advise my relatives because many ask my opinion

Cost of a DHI in France for 2000 grafts (or 4000 hairs): around 8000€.

    For who?

The transplant is accessible to all people, men or women, with a dense donor area and little flexibility in the scalp. Even with a well-provided donor area, it will rarely be possible to treat the entire surface of the head if you have very advanced baldness. Doctors recommend a transplant for:

    NOT TOO ADVANCED alopecia:

For women in stage 2 of the Ludwig scale, possibly 3 if there are enough grafts remaining.

For men who have not passed stage 6 on the Hamilton-Norwood scale. Beyond this stage, it must be seen on a case-by-case basis.

    STABILIZED alopecia:

If you do your hair transplant too early, a second transplant may be necessary a few years later. Indeed, your alopecia is not stabilized, the non-grafted hair will continue to continue.

Before the age of 30, it is better to refrain from having a transplant. If you really have a very bad experience with your alopecia, you can possibly perform a small transplant of 750 to 1000 grafts, no more! So you keep your graft capital for a transplant when your alopecia is stabilized.

    Procedure of a DHI intervention

An intervention can last between 6 to 8 hours of intervention for around 1500 to 2000 grafts (i.e. on average 3500 to 4500 hairs).

1st step: drawing the receiving surface

To begin, the surgeon draws on your scalp the area where the hair will be implanted. Using a mirror, you validate the proposed drawing.

With the DHI method, shaving of the head is no longer necessary as with all known transplant methods.

The doctor just shaves a part behind the head (the graft donor area) but it will be camouflaged by the hair above afterwards. The area where the hair is implanted is not shaved (usually the top of the head)

2nd step: removal of the grafts

The donor area is in the occipital region, above your neck.

The surgeon extracts the follicles there using advanced tools 0.7mm in diameter, specially developed for DHI. This is the smallest diameter currently available for extracting follicles, so it's the gentlest technique (or the least aggressive, it's up to you ^^) for your scalp.

There are almost no scars, they will be very small and not visible to the naked eye by those around you.

3rd step: classification of the follicles

Follicles usually contain 1, 2 or 3 hairs. They can contain more (up to 9!) but this is rare.

The third step is therefore to sort them one by one, without altering or dividing them. This sorting is necessary because the doctor will implant the follicles containing a single hair at the level of the frontal hairline. Then the more it sinks into the hair, the more it will use multiple follicles to create density.

During this short sorting period, they are bathed in a preservative solution used in organ transplants. Their trauma is thus reduced to a minimum and their quality preserved.

4th step: implantation of the grafts

This is where the DHI stands out.

The doctor places each follicle manually directly on your scalp, on the areas that need it, using a special implantation tool (CHOI Pen).

This implantation pen allows him to control the angle, depth and direction of implantation for completely natural hair.

There is no need to make pre-holes, slits or incisions to insert the grafts, which is the case in traditional FUE.

    Price of a DHI transplant

Be careful not to confuse grafts and hair! In the price lists, in general 1 graft = 2 hairs.

So if the price is given 'per hair', it may seem much lower than the other prices 'per graft' even though it is the same: 1€ per hair is often identical to 2€ per graft (since it is estimated that a graft contains on average 2 hairs). When in doubt, always compare the prices 'by graft'.

Beware of clinics in Tunisia, Turkey and Hungary who say they sell a DHI service when they do not meet all the requirements of a DHI, namely:

    - use of a micro-punch from 0.7 to 0, 9mm and not a punch. The best being obviously 0.7mm.

    -hair implantation with CHOI pen

-ensure the training of the doctor who will practice the DHI since all the aesthetic success of the graft will depend on his ability to reproduce the overall orientation of the hair. The doctor and his team must have undergone long-term training in order to specialize in the use of this technique.

For 2000 grafts (or 4000 hairs) , we turn around 8000€ in France.

Where to do a DHI transplant?

Many aesthetic clinics offer hair transplants. Find out first if the chosen clinic offers the transplant technique you want to perform. Check reviews online.

Personally, I'm not a fan of all-inclusive stays flight + hotel + intervention… It completely discredits the seriousness of the intervention. It smells of full-nosed marketing, we are far from the Hippocratic oath and unmistakable medical ethics.

Don't forget that if you are going to a country offering very inexpensive fares, such as Poland, Hungary, Tunisia or Turkey, you do not have the same rights as in France in the event of a hiccup. I find it very risky.

Most of the time, you expose yourself to:

    – to have you operated on by a team that does not speak French,

    – to a doctor who did not study in France,

    – to difficult post-operative follow-up given the distance, or even non-existent

    – to a lack of recourse in case of failure or worse of medical error.

    So be careful friends

What to combine the DHI transplant with?

BEFORE A HAIR TRANSPLANT: Mesograft is sometimes recommended before a hair transplant. It will help the graft take and its healing. The mesograft has a big impact on the quality of the regrowth of the transplanted hair but also of the remaining hair.

BEFORE A HAIR TRANSPLANT: More and more doctors perform a PRP session during hair transplantation. Healing time is much faster and follicles grow back faster. This allows you to return to active and social life more quickly, approximately 8 days after the operation. Without PRP, it takes more like two or three weeks so the difference is huge!

AFTER A HAIR TRANSPLANT: Hair mesotherapyis also useful in addition to a transplant because it is always interesting to bring nutrition to the new transplanted hair. We must see mesotherapy as fertilizer. This will optimize the thickening of the hair. The ideal is to do 5 mesotherapy sessions in the weeks following your mesograft.
