FUE
(Follicular Unit Extraction)FUE: Definition
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) hair transplantation is a more recent technique for removing grafts (or follicular units: UF) used in hair transplantation. This is the so-called “ hair by hair ” technique . It has the main advantage of not causing a scar on the scalp.
In FUE, the donor area can be the classic hippocratic crown (temporo-occipital area), but also areas of the body covered with hair (torso, back, beard, etc.), we then speak of BHT (Body Hair Transplantation).
It is possible to take small quantities of UF for cases of scalp repair or very localized grafts (eyebrows, beard, etc.). Important sessions in the case of advanced baldness are possible.
FUE Hair Transplant: The Technique
This hair transplant procedure is performed at the clinic without hospitalization. It is performed under local anesthesia with specific microsurgical equipment. It is recommended to perform a prior shaving of the donor area and the recipient area (approximately 1 mm in length) to facilitate the removal and implantation of the grafts.
For aesthetic purposes, it is essential to use high-precision sampling punches, adapted to the hair sampled. As a general rule, the punches used range from 0.70 to 1.00 mm. Too thin, there is a risk of transection and the possibility of not removing the graft correctly. Too wide, we no longer speak of FUE, the incisions risk leaving a moth-eaten, scarred appearance.

Once the graft has been removed, the implantation techniques in the recipient area (bald or bald area) are identical to those used in FUT .

FUE: The postoperative course
The postoperative consequences of an FUE transplant are relatively simple (redness, scabs, oedema), allowing rapid resumption of physical activity, without major work stoppage.
