(Follicular Unit Extraction) Technique?
At high magnification, we can notice that the hair emerges from the scalp in groups of one to four hairs through the same orifice. Each of these groups constitutes a follicle.
The FUE technique consists of individually removing these follicles from a donor area with high capillary density (classically the crown) to transfer them to a so-called recipient area with low capillary density (the bald area).
Follicle removal can be done in three different ways:
- manual punch
FUE - motorized punch
FUE - robotic FUE
What Does The Preoperative Consultation Consist Of?
The initial consultation is organized in three stages: the interrogation, the hair diagnosis, and the establishment of the project.
The interrogation will allow in particular to record your personal history, your family history of baldness, the seniority of the alopecia, the search for factors triggering or favoring hair loss, the list of treatments already carried out.
The capillary diagnosis is carried out using a magnifying camera connected to a capillary program making it possible to specify the quality of the crown, the elasticity of the scalp, the stage of alopecia, the follicular density per cm2, the hair thickness and scalp sebometry.
The Treatment Plan
The treatment plan is then established and will specify the number of follicles needed, the donor area, the most suitable technique (FUE / FUT) and the number of foreseeable sessions.
At the end of the consultation, you will leave with:
- your computerized capillary assessment
- a sheet explaining in detail the technique which will be suggested to you, its advantages and its limits
- a detailed estimate which will specify the technique, the number of grafts planned and the total price of the intervention
- informed consent attesting that you have been informed of the terms of the intervention
- a prescription for a blood test
