Hair transplant techniques in Turkey: Classic FUE / Sapphire FUE and DHI

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Hair Implant

FUE hair transplantation is the benchmark for hair implants. Developed in the early 2000s, this technique has been constantly evolving but the basic principles of FUE remain the same today. It is a method used in almost all hair transplant clinics around the world.

The FUE technique leaves no scars , and its recovery time is shorter compared to other existing methods. The FUE technique is performed with a variety of instruments and under local anesthesia . The technique is known by different names, such as Classic FUE (via micro-motors) and Saphir FUE (FUE performed with sapphire blades).

The FUE technique with sapphire blades is made from a precious stone called sapphire . Instead of using steel blades while creating incisions in the recipient site, special sapphire blades will be used. The hair implant with FUE Sapphire is not a technique, it is an innovation designed to open even smaller micro-channels in the recipient area , where the hair follicles will be transplanted. This will speed up the healing process and minimize the formation of scabs .

DHI Hair Transplant or Choi Implanter Pen

Although some researches admit that the DHI technique  is a new method of hair transplantation, others do not recognize it scientifically as a technique, but more as a marketing tactic. It is a hair implant method performed with an implanter known as unshaven hair transplantation. The DHI technique, unlike the FUE technique, is described as a two-step method . It is performed in the form of an implantation with a needle (Implant Choi) with a very thin, cylindrical and pointed tip without opening the channel to the area to be transplanted. This cylindrical tip Choi needle is in the form of a channel and the hair follicles can be inserted into the needle by going down this channel .

The practice of sedation has become increasingly common during hair implant operations. It is a needle-free relaxation technique that reduces the pain felt during local anesthesia. This medicinal method is carried out under medical supervision , after routine checks (blood test, examinations, etc.) and provides postoperative comfort that is highly valued by patients who are apprehensive about this moment. However, it remains optional  and may be left out of the process, depending on the patient.
