Description of the FUE method

The FUE follicular hair extraction method allows the extraction of follicular units one at a time without the reduction in skin elasticity that often accompanies hair restoration with the FUT patchwork method. During the FUE procedure, grafts/follicles are removed one by one.

Before asking for a hair transplant, everyone should know that one of the most important prerequisites is an adequate supply of hair to be collected and redistributed to the scalp. Basically, hair can be transplanted from one part of the human body to another, if there are noo reasons associated with the disease.

This includes both head hair and body hair removed from areas of the donor such as the beard, chest, or other parts of the human body. 

Since hair grows in groups of 1-4/5 hairs, each of the follicles is carefully removed from the donor area individually via FUE using a FUE punch that has been designed to a high standard for a less invasive technique.

Step by step, hair follicles will be formed to redistribute the graft to the recipient area. This method allows you to collect the exact amount of hair needed for transplantation in order to achieve a very natural appearance. The FUE method also makes it possible to economically extract the entire donor area and is not limited to a strip of skin.

The whole hair transplantation procedure with the FUE reconstruction method is of course more time consuming than with the FUT patchwork hair transplantation method due to the manual extraction of each graft.

How many grafts can be transplanted in one day?

The entire process of hair restoration at the Hairline Clinic is carried out with the personal participation of our doctors from extraction to placement of grafts, performed in small sessions. A daily rate of 1500 to 2000 grafts will be gradually transplanted in small amounts from the donor area to baldness.

This provides more confidence that the follicles will survive, as each individual graft will be connected to the patient's blood supply very quickly and will not remain outside for an extended period of time.

Most of the transplanted hair will be lost in about 3 weeks after transplantation depending on each patient. This shows the natural cycle after successful entry of hair into a new area, and hair production occurs in phases, including a resting phase in which the hair falls out. The transplanted hair will grow in about 12 months and the patient usually expects the final result in 10-12 months.

Situation after FUE hair transplant

Especially male patients experience emotional and psychological stress related to their own expectations and a long period of personal shame and embarrassment.

Because most hair transplants require a full shave prior to the procedure, many patients will experience the real extent of their current situation for the first time as the pre-existing hair can no longer cover the head.

Moreover, shock damage is possible in many patients, resulting in a greater degree of baldness than before transplantation, due to the fact that pre-existing hair can be traumatized during the restoration process. Typically, this effect is reversible and does not reflect a permanent condition.

The period slowly resumes, they are often characterized by hasty expectations of  the final results ,

 increased hopelessness and personal impatience. Therefore, we advise our patients to familiarize themselves with their situation and not draw false conclusions. Keep in mind that this is your own hair and look that you want to enjoy for the rest of your life! 

Comparison of manual FUE extraction method with motorized FUE method

The process of collecting donor hair using a motorized method differs from the manual FUE extraction method of the device used for the procedure. The FUE extractor, the so-called Micromotor, will be supported by a motor that provides automatic extraction of follicles. One of the advantages of this method is time. The use of a motorized method makes it possible to remove individual grafts from the donor area much faster than with manual extraction.

Thus, hair follicles can be transferred earlier, while manual extraction is more laborious.

Stick-and-Place Transplant Technique

Once each follicle has been extracted from the donor area, it will be prepared for grafting and transplanted into the recipient site after located incisions around the baldness (such as a receding hairline). The incisions are precisely prepared under local anesthesia for graft placement, leaving no scars after the entire process is completed. Considering graft placement as a very sensitive part of the entire recovery process, the follicles are grafted using a "stick-and-place" method in the recipient area. By using this ingenious method for their patients, Hairline Clinic ensures that the incisions are made at the same time as the grafts are moved without actually disturbing the sensitive areas of the follicles. The incisions made during the restoration process will heal within 24 hours and be attached to the recipient's new hair.
