Hair transplant with CHOI pen (DHI method)

Direct hair implantation is a method of hair transplantation using a special DHI Pen, also called DHI Implanter or CHOI Pen. From the donor area, follicles are extracted one at a time, and also one at a time, they are implanted in the chosen place.

Who is the DHI technique suitable for?

  • Patients in need of anterior hairline transplantation.
  • When transplanting eyes-eyebrows
  • When transplanting a beard and mustache.
  • Patients who prefer not to shave their heads before surgery.

Hair transplantation

By applying local anesthesia in the donor area, we achieve relaxation of the hair follicles, after which, the ridges, ready for the procedure, are collected with a special pen. The collected hair follicles are then placed on the scalp using this special device.

The follicles are implanted into the skin using a special pen. This pen is very thin and pointed, but thanks to its special structure, it has a tip into which the hair root can be inserted. At an angle depending on the natural relief of the patient's head, the doctor separates the hair follicles from the excess skin and places them one by one into the Choi implanter tip. The placement of the follicle in the pen must be done in the most accurate and careful way. An experienced assistant, after placing in the pen, each hair graft is transplanted into the skin of the area chosen for transplantation. For each patient, the desired hair line is individually developed, following the outlines of which, at an angle of 45 degrees in the direction of growth of their own hair, the specialist performs follicle transplantation. Each session uses 2 to 6 Choi pens and, on average,
Compared with the FUE transplant method, the Choi method has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that the follicle extraction time is significantly reduced and the transplantation process becomes more successful. The healing time after the operation is also reduced, thanks to which the patient returns to daily life faster. DHI hair transplant does not require shaving. Of the visible disadvantages, one can name that the doctor and his team performing this operation must be very highly qualified and experienced, and this procedure is more expensive than the others.
